Our trials refine us and
bring us closer to God
Romans 5:3-5 We glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
And patience, experience; and experience, hope. And hope maketh not
ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost
which is given unto us.
We have not been left alone in our
trials. Heavenly Father has sent the Holy Ghost to comfort and guide us, and to
bring us peace and strength. Whenever we come through a trial, having remained
faithful, we have grown closer to God and gained more Christ-like attributes.
“Paul’s teaching that ‘hope maketh not
ashamed’ (Romans 5:5)
means that our hope in God’s promises will not disappoint us. From this verse
we also learn that the ‘love of God’ is a gift to us through the Holy Ghost.”
(New Testament Student Manual)
There are so many blessings that come to those who place their faith in
Jesus Christ. To me, the most important blessings that come because of my faith
are peace and strength (both emotional and physical). I feel so much empathy for those who do not
have the knowledge that I have. This testimony of Christ that burns in my heart
gives me so much joy, strength, guidance.
During my trials I know that I will be supported and that there is a reason for all suffering. Many often lose their faith if they don’t understand or accept that reason. I pray that won’t happen to me, and that I will remain faithful- especially through trials.
